WOMEN IN DANCE LEADERSHIP AWARD CEREMONY 21st March 2022
The first of its kind, the AWA DANCE Women in Dance Leadership Award seeks to celebrate women in the UK dance sector. A night to celebrate leadership & female empowerment in the dance sector! On the 21st March AWA DANCE held the second iteration of the Women in Dance Leadership Award to recognise women and their outstanding leadership in the UK dance sector in 2021. This year's award recipient was announced as Kate Marsh. Kate is an impactful dance researcher and powerful dance artist. Her recently completed PhD focusses on leadership in the context of dance and disability. She is currently a research fellow at C-DaRE (Coventry University Centre for Dance Research). Kate's work as a change maker at Metal Peterborough, a research fellow at Coventry University and a performing dance artist means that she works closely with many different communities from dance. She is a champion for disabled dancers, particularly women. This year's event took place in a hybrid format at Sadler's Wells, Rosebery Room and virtually via the platform Remo. The evening was hosted by Avatâra Ayuso (AWA DANCE Founder and Director) and the award presented by charity ambassador Dr Kathryn Stamp. The ceremony also featured the premiere of dance film Let Them Eat Cake! as well as a live Tango performance by Director Avatâra Ayuso and Martin Espindola. The award itself was specially designed by the visual artist Silvia Lerin, creating a work of art inspired by the charity’s leadership values. |
CONGRATULATIONS TO KATE MARSH, THE INSPIRING RECIPIENT FOR THIS YEAR'S AWA DANCE WOMEN IN DANCE LEADERSHIP AWARD |
