Women in Dance Online Leadership Bootcamp is designed for those aged 18 to 100 (and over!), who consider themselves to be part of the dance sector (choreographer, dancer, producer, administrator, teacher, costume designer, dance writer, etc) You can be based anywhere in the world). The Bootcamp will take you on an inspirational and stimulating journey to empower your leadership practice by reflecting on your leadership style and current matters, delivered by inspiring and workshop leaders from very diverse cultural backgrounds such as Dana Caspersen (conflict specialist) Jasmin Vardimon (award winning choreographer), Seeta Patel (choreographer), Dan Daw (choreographer), Leila Billing (senior advisor in gender and movement building), Morag Deyes (Artistic Director of Dance Base Scotland) and Avatâra Ayuso (our founder and director) check them out below. With sessions such us: what can dance teach us about leadership?; dance and maternity; navigating conflict; becoming an ally, feminist leadership; and inspiring women in conversation among other intense and stimulating sessions

Dana Caspersen Conflict specialist Dana was a long-term member of the Ballet Frankfurt and the Forsythe Company. In 30 years as an award-winning performing artist, Dana has authored, performed and toured works worldwide. Dana has an MS in Conflict Studies and Mediation, an MFA in Dance and has received several international awards for creative achievement. She was a long standing member of Ballet Frankfurt. |
Seeta Patel Dancer & choreographer Award-winning Dancer and Choreographer, Seeta has worked with a range of Bharatanatyam and contemporary dance professionals around the world. She uses her creativity to challenge ‘othering’ for a more equitable society, socially conscientious action, discourse and provocation to address wider global issues. Supporting young talent is a cornerstone of her company’s vision. |
Dan Daw Dance artist Throughout his performance career, Dan has worked with Kat Worth, Kate Champion, Janet Smith, Wendy Houstoun, Rachid Ouramdane, Nigel Charnock, Claire Cunningham, among others. He is Associate Director, with Sarah-Vyne Vassallo, to commission, develop and produce new work and co-manages support and reflection for the company’s independent artists with disability. |
Avatâra Ayuso Founder & director of awa dance She is the choreographer and Artistic Director of AVA DANCE COMPANY, a cultural leader and activist in the dance world. She is committed to empowering women through the performing arts. Her worked has shown internationally in different continents, in her mission to move away from Eurocentric perspectives in the arts and society |
Leila Biling Women & girls consultant Leila Billing is a consultant who works on women and girls' rights. She has worked with clients including Oxfam and UNICEF. She has also held leadership positions within Girls Not Brides, War Child UK and ActionAid. One of her specialty areas is in supporting individuals and organisations to apply feminist leadership principles to their work. |
